Basics of Filmmaking

Boot Camp (ages 12-18)

Let’s Make A Movie! In C-FAM’s week long bootcamps students dive into production on a short film resulting in their own film to share with friends and family. All of our Student Made shorts have been screened at multiple local film festivals, and there is no experience like watching your own film with an audience.

Media Coverage of Bootcamps and Screenings

  1. Link to moments of Monona Bootcamp production, “Finding Jori.”

  2. Link to moments of the Portage Bootcamp production, “A Sand County Summer.”

  3. Link to highlights of last year’s Student Films that screened at Watertown Public Library; the ending is students standing before an audience and talking about their experience.

Day 2: Getting familiar with the tools of production and beginning to film as a team.

Day 3: Filming as a team.

Day 4: Wrapping up filming. Introduction to editing, sound mixing, and score.

Day 5: Putting finishing touches on our film and sharing the film with family and friends (sometimes this screening is moved to the weekend or an evening to accommodate more families)
